For Agnes Rochford, a 28 year old lady from Ghana, she wanted something exotic and rare, she had decided to marry Derek, a 72 year old man.
A lot of people mistaken Dereck for her grandfather but they care less about what others think. They met six years ago in Ghana.
Love met them and they got married seven months later to the shock of their family and friends, because Agnes had announced that she was pregnant for him immediately.
Today, they have a son who is three. Agnes has this to say: “When we’re out people stare and I can see them trying to work out if we’re a couple.
“People look at us with disgust and point. We try to ignore them.
“Once when we were shopping and I picked Derek a shirt someone said, ‘That would look great on your grandad’. I didn’t want to embarrass the shop assistant by saying he was my husband.”
Agnes adds: “We’ve been through a lot and had to prove our love to family and friends, who were concerned about my intentions. But we’ve come out the other end and are happier than ever.”
