If you want to become a father one day, then you had better avoid some kinds of food and drinks.
Most men know that to protect their manhood they should do the following: don't wear tight undies, keep a laptop far from your lap, stop smoking and don't keep a cell phone in your pocket for too long. But there is one more important thing about protecting your sperm: your diet.
A lot of men have never heard that their diet could affect their sperm count. So here are the foods and drinks you should avoid:
1. Meat: Of course meat is considered to be the food for true men. But if you eat the wrong kind of meat your sperm could suffer. A study at Harvard University conducted in 2014 demonstrated that men who ate a lot of fast food, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, bacon, sausages and salami, had 23% less sperm than guys who didn’t eat those products. If you want to boost your sperm count, you should eat more fish.
2. Dairy: Young men who eat a minimum of two portions of full-fat dairy (for example cheese and whole milk) a day, risk having less motile sperm. Pesticides and other chemicals in cows' food are to blame. Try switching to low-fat dairy.
3. Non-organic foods: Fruit and vegetables might come with pesticides, and pesticides can damage your little swimmers. They can damage your hormonal balance as well.
4. Alcohol: Booze has a negative impact on sperm concentration and motility. Alcohol leads to oxidative stress, which is a key cause of male infertility. Of course one drink is not a problem. But regular alcohol intake is highly negative for your health.
5. Soda: Sugar-sweetened drinks have also been linked with a poorer sperm motility. This concerns all sugary beverages: soda, sport drinks, sweet tea, etc. If you like sweets you should rather eat more fruit than drink sugary drinks.
