How To Prepare Homemade Pizza

A lot of Africans would always wonder how this pizza of a thing tastes, we always see it in movies and events and sometimes, we wish we can have a taste of it.

Never to worry, NaijaScoop has made it easy for you to prepare at home. There is no need ordering from eateries any longer.

Ingredients

1/4 cup warm water
1 packet dry yeast, (approx 1 1/2 tsp)
2 1/2 cups all purpose flour or bread flour
3 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup room temp water
1lb chicken breast
2 tablespoons suya spice
3 tablespoons stew (view link in post)
1 cube maggi
Salt to taste
1 red/yellow/green bell pepper (diced)
1/2 large red onion (cut into stripes)
1/2 cup fresh mozzarella cheese (shredded)
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (shredded)
Suya spice to finish
1 handful scent leaf/efirin (finely chopped)

Directions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Add the warm water into a small bowl. Add the yeast and rest for 10 minutes. In 10 minutes the mixture should be creamy. Measure the flour and the salt into the bowl of a stand mixer.

Combine on very low speed with the paddle attachment. Slowly add the liquid ingredients to the dry and mix until thoroughly combined. (If you do not have a mixer, you can do this manually as well)

Step 3: Place the dough on a floured board and knead the dough by hand for another 1 to 2 minutes. Add flour to dust as needed to prevent sticking. Shape the dough into a ball and place in a very lightly oiled bowl and cover with a clean towel, let stand until dough doubles in size, about 1 hour.

Step 4: While the dough is rising, marinate the chicken pieces in suya spice, salt, dried pepper, maggi cube and dash of curry. Allow to soak in the marinade for at least 30 minutes.

Step 5: In a clean pan drizzle with some oil. Once hot, place the chicken pieces in the pan to brown. Cook for at least 5 minutes on each side. Chop up the rest of the toppings and set aside

Step 6: With a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface, roll each piece of dough as evenly as possible into a 10-inch circle, dusting lightly with flour, as necessary. Transfer to a pizza stone or flat baking tray.

Step 7: Place two tablespoons of reduced tomato stew, followed by the chicken, diced red onions, sweet red and yellow peppers. Finish with some shredded mozzarella and parmesean cheese and extra suya seasoning.

Step 8: Bake in the oven at 450 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or until crust is browned. Remove from oven, rest for 5 minutes and serve.
