Nigeria’s in-coming First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has stated that women will enjoy a better life under the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, as soon as he is inaugurated.
Mrs Buhari’s promise was conveyed in an Easter message released in Abuja today (April 6), by Malam Garba Shehu, the director of media and publicity in the APC presidential campaign organisation.
According to the message, the wife of the president-elect assured Nigerian women that they would witness a better deal when her husband formally takes office on May 29.
“I wish Christian women the abundant blessings of the Easter celebration.
“Nigerian women are among the hardest working social groups, but have remained economically and politically marginalised.
“Under my husband’s government, honest labour and hard work would be adequately rewarded, while corruption would be fought aggressively,” she said.
She also advised Nigerian women not to despair as the Buhari-led administration would make every efforts to promote and protect their welfare.
Muhammadu Buhari, on his part, released an Easter message in Lagos on Saturday, April 4, 2015. The president-elect and the All Progressives Congress congratulated Nigerians and urged every citizen to come together, irrespective of the fault lines separating them, for a national rebirth in the spirit of Easter.
